Special Announcement:
~ Colonial Poplin ~
Staff in the Community
With all of the strides that
Colonial Poplin and Poplin Way have made to improve the quality
of resident care, we are very proud to announce three new involvements
which will bring further representation into the outside communities.
We are very proud to announce the following:
Co owner and Vice President,
Justin Philbrick, was
cordially invited by Rockingham VNA & Hospice to join their
Hospice Advisory Committee. Colonial Poplin has had a longstanding
relationship with this Exeter NH based resource and it was an
honor to accept a position that will not only provide a stronger
voice from Poplin, but will provide a voice for long term care
providers throughout the State. One of the primary goals of this
committee is to develop and understanding on how to better the
hospice services provided in the community as well as healthcare
facilities.
Justin states, "It was
a pleasure to be considered by Rockingham and VNA to serve on
this committee. As a facility owner as well as a Director of
Admissions and Marketing, I will be able to offer a unique approach
to the committee and share views from a facility's operational
standpoint. We as healthcare providers need to communicate openly
and understand that healthcare is a multi dimensional undertaking
with many voices at several different levels."
Both Jeff Philbrick, co-owner
and administrator, and Magued Rizkalla, MD, Medical Director, have been appointed to the Board of
Directors of the newly formed New Hampshire Chapter of the American
Medical Directors Association (AMDA).
"I sincerely feel that
only by the associations that represent the dedicated professionals
who provide excellent long-term care to our elderly banding together
and finding a common voice can we continue to shape both the
regulatory and reimbursement environments that either assist
or hinder us in our mission to provide the best possible care
to our residents."
says Jeff Philbrick.
AMDA is an organization
chartered in 1978
with the following mission statement:
The American Medical
Directors Association, the professional association of medical
directors, attending physicians, and others practicing in the
long term care continuum, is dedicated to excellence in patient
care and provides education, advocacy, information, and professional
development to promote the delivery of quality long term care
medicine.(www.amda.com). |
Director of Nursing, Liz Simes, was recently nominated to the Board
of the New Hampshire Long Term Care Foundation and was formerly
inducted on Wednesday, November 4th at the NHHCA annual fall
meeting. The NHLTCF, for the past two years, has sent out a challenge
to nursing facilities in NH to raise scholarship monies. Colonial
Poplin readily accepted, more specifically, Liz accepted this
challenge. "I love a challenge!!!" she exclaims.
This nomination arrives after
Liz has commandeered Colonial Poplin's fundraising efforts to
award winning status for two consecutive years.
Liz states, "A few weeks
ago I received a phone call from Michael Lehrman, the President
of the New Hampshire Long Term Care Foundation asking if I would
become a board member! I was honored to be thought of and am
looking forward to becoming even more involved! We absolutely
need more people to enter the field of long term care as the
need for services increase."
Liz also wants to make sure if
anyone is interested in participating in a fund raiser, would
like to make a donation or apply for a scholarship to please
call her at Colonial Poplin where she plays an implemental role
at creating a highly skilled and professional nursing program.
Liz has always been very involved with the continued education
of her nursing staff and it is with pleasure we announce her
latest achievement.
Colonial Poplin is fortunate
to be owned and operated by two very enthusiastic individuals
in the long term continuum. Jeff and Justin, in turn, are very
humbled to have very dedicated professionals that work with them
to ensure that the quality of resident life remains of high caliber.
In a society where rules and regulations become overbearing,
it is reassuring to know that Colonial Poplin and Poplin Way
are committed to the individual.
