On Wednesday, May 2nd, residents
enjoyed the maiden voyage of the new transportation vehicle that
was recently acquired by Colonial Poplin and Poplin Way. The
Exeter Arts Committee sponsored 'Blossoms' which was a gallery
displaying some of the exceptional work created by local potters,
florists and artists. Linda Miller, activities director of Poplin
Way, along with LNA Dee Perkins and owner Justin Philbrick, shared
the excitement of the first outing which brought everyone to
the Exeter Town Hall. |

Residents were welcomed by co-chair
Donna Dennehy who enthusiastically toured individuals through
the gallery and took time to answer one-on-one questions about
the artistry. Near the end, Donna spoke of her own pottery and
kiln work as residents enjoyed punch and cookies. |
|
Wednesday's trip was a phenomenal
success. "This was the happiest day in two years for him..."
Susan Peterson spoke of her brother, Chris, who is a Colonial
Poplin resident. |

The addition of the transportation
van has already made impact on the residents and employees. In
particular, the activities departments will be able to add a
whole new dimension to their programs. Residents will be able
to partake in more frequent trips to shows, lunches and other
outings. Annette Denise, director of Poplin's in-house therapy
department has incorporated the use of the van as well. If a
resident's goal is to return home, therapists are enabled to
personally transport the resident for a home visit to assess
his or her level of independence. Colonial Poplin and Poplin
Way are very proud to truly personalize the services offered
and the van is another dynamic way of offering those services
to our neighboring communities. |
